150th Fighter Group ANG Kirtland AFB, New Mexico F-16C/D, C-26B 'NM' 188th Fighter Squadron

The 188th FS is the group's operational unit and has flown the F-16C since May 1992. The unit was created as the 188th Fighter Squadron in July 1947 with the P-51D and was mobilized between February 1951 and October 1952. Redesignated the 188th FIS, the squadron converted to the F-80C in August 1953, before re-equipping with the F-100A in April 1958. The 150th FIG was added in July 1960. The unit upgraded to the F-100C as the 188th TFS in 1964 and was called to active duty in January 1968, including a period of deployment to Tuy Hoa AB, South Vietnam. The 188th returned to state control in June 1969 and briefly converted to the F-100D in 1972 before changing to the A-7D in late 1973.
